Imagine a fully extended hanging
steel chain that has different sized links, some are larger, some
smaller and it is loaded with weight until it breaks. If no other
forces are involved it will break at its weakest link, and thus its
strongest will not get the chance to push its limits.
The more the weakest links are
reinforce, the harder the big strong links can be applied.
If you reinforce the weakest until
they can carry more then the strongest links, then the strongest
become the weakest links and now the big muscles can be pushed to
their full potential, every time, and the weakest get the rest.
The greatest athlete on earth still
has hips that are immensely stronger then their knees, so any
exercise (like running or squats) which drives all of the forces
through the knees, cannot allow the hip muscles to ever develop to
their highest level because their knees would fail long before that
point.
Fitness engineering will design
devices to greatly reinforce and exaggerate the functions of knees
ankles leg bones and feet, (also elbows - hands) or bypass them
entirely.
By artificially reinforcing the
weakest parts of the human mechanical function the huge body core
muscles (including opposing) can be exercised to their limits while
they are running, without any worry of harming or wearing out the
knees or anything below them.
Fitness Engineering will supply
exercise and training enhancement devices that do not replace their
currant fitness devices, but instead help them drive them much
harder.
Because this is an engineering (not a
medical) science, it is based on tracing muscle effort, resistance
and loading forces, exactly as an engineer traces structural forces
on buildings bridges and towers.
Just as force tracing exposes where,
how and what must be designed to keep the structure standing, it
will also cover a new range of devices that know when and how to
block divert or absorb any overload, compression and impact forces
during games, meets and practices, simply to prevent injuries. This
is the science that will also greatly lengthen athletic careers.
Fitness Engineering should be
able to bring Brett Favre back in 10 or so years. That is if he ever
really retires.
Fitness Engineering will also
open a new area for bionic sports enhancements (still powered by
muscle (not artificial power like the Bionic Man shows). This may
not be acceptable for traditional pro or college sports, however it
could be like a blessing for today's disabled children by giving
them a way to play the same popular sports like, or even with the
normal kids.
That is Fitness Engineering.
