Bypassing Muscle Building Plateaus
In our nearing ten years of research we have never found a single muscle building plateau that was not caused by a weak link, maximizing.
Most commonly today's plateaus happen once muscles have been strengthened enough to equal their joints mechanical limits, most often the elbows and knees. At this point the muscles can no longer be worked hard enough to destroy many more muscle cells, which is what causes muscles to heal to a stronger state, so they hit a plateau.
This one is where joints start to overwork before their muscles can. People with disabled legs are at this plateau before doing any knee loading exercise, so they get nothing.
The problem is that overworked joints do not heal stronger like muscles do, so continually exercising hard at joint limitations is prematurely debilitating, and without farther muscle gain. This is why the most efficient exercises only overwork your muscles, never joints.
Joint pain is your body's way of telling you that you are at a plateau, and the exercise you are using will no longer be efficient at farther muscle building. Only muscle pain, without any joint pain is your body's way of telling you that you have done an efficient exercise.
The old statement "No Pain No Gain" is used to justify humanity's 2500 year history of teaching the same horribly inefficient joint overloading exercise methods, we just made them fancier and added bicycles (which were not even meant to be fitness devices).
The Science of Fitness Engineering exposes the weakest links and then is used to design methods and devices that reinforce or bypass them so muscle strengthening can continue.
Once the first level of weak links have been bypassed, then the next level of weak links start to overwork (if pushed hard). For instance once our LOBOS had completely taken the weakest link of human mobility drive train (the knees) out of core strengthening, the next plateau to appear was caused by the abs and groin muscles reaching their full effort before the far more powerful Gluts, quads and hams could come close to pushing their full power.
LOBOS only load forward and reverse mobility motions evenly, as the disengaged body cores of mobility disabled people need some for both as they have none. However already strong mobile humans already have far more forward, then reverse motion power.
Because all Lower Body Oar verities only work in pairs (unless the body is completely stabilized with fixed bracing) each side counterbalances the other, causing the forward and rearward swing speed is always the same. This is verifiable because the oars always pass each other at the center of their swing range.
This balance is ideal for disabled people but because LOBOS allow them to greatly strengthen almost all of them with only gentle effort.
However athletes need exercise methods to maximize their pure mobility power, so by building unbalanced Lower Body Oars that place far greater resistance only against forward thrust motions, another plateau was removed, and RAMBOS became a Lower Body Oars that can run athletic butts ragged, and in minutes. Also still completely bypassing the knees and feet.
There are still more plateaus ahead, and once we reach them Fitness Engineering will expose find ways of getting around them too. |
